Mark, what you said is the reason why Tiger said we should turn off YT and not get our lessons from it, but, instead, get lessons from a proper coach and practice what he or she teaches. Too many conflicting instructions, some outright wrong, others don’t apply to us as individuals and, still others don’t address the root cause. As soon as I hear that we should be in these positions or look like a Tour pro, I dismiss the person. I need to learn my swing and manage it, not someone else’s swing. Thanks for the great advice. Cheers.

Lol – I am guilty of 75% of these!
I've had 4-5(?) drivers so far… same with wedges, hybrid, 7 wood, putter…. it can't be ME !!!
I went from a functional swing with decent dispersion to chasing a fade to reduce spin and hold greens, to wanting a draw to get distance off the tee, back to a fade, and now I'm back where I started and just trying to hit a functional shot with okay dispersion
I have a bad round, come home, watch a bunch of YT video tips and think I'm ready to conquer the world after practicing in the garden and fail again and repeat.

It's a horrible horrible cycle to get stuck into. I'm going for a driver fitting in a couple days and am going to go with whatever the fitter decides. I was fit for my irons and am just going to swing them normally and stop trying to force things.
It's like I'm starting the season all over again.
    Ugh….

Not watched the whole vid yet, but I've gotta hugely applaud the first tip. Boy have I tried to nail that picture perfect swing, but I've finally started to regularly hit long and straight, and it's not beautiful, but it works for me. I gave up on the draw ages ago. It made a mess of everything.

The reason I don’t improve is because of my golf outfits, golf balls, and clubs – in that order. Never blame the golfer themselves

I've been watching the golf sidekick's channel. Funny guy and his philosophy around playing golf is quite interesting. It's actually helped me a fair bit with strategy. I've followed Mark for years and he's another go-to for golf advice that translates really well to practice, but more importantly to playing and enjoying the game.

Target handicap is 9 but currently 11. Once a week golf is tough as it usually takes 9 shocking holes to get going. Back 9 always many shots better.

You are easily one of the top 3 in all of YT/social media when it comes to giving people practical and easy to digest advice…and I have checked out idk thousands of channels in my journey to try to improve over the last year.

I'm sworn off of all of it now – except for yours, AMG, and 1 other. Cheers and thanks for the help.

My hdcp is a 5.8, I actually dont have a target in mind currently. My last target goals were to break 80 and get in single digits. Now, I try to concentrate on consistency without overthinking. I would luv to stay below a 5 hdcp. Im 47 and have only been playing for 8 going on 9 years. I am really committed.

When practising ball above or below your feet, why not put a few extra pieces of carpet either under the ball (ball above your feet) or under your feet (ball below your feet)? By doing so, you can still sit the club behind the ball and have ball, then carpet, interraction.

For instruction, I trust Mark, eric Corgano, coach lockey and Chris Evans… I have to agree with Mark. There’s a lot of pretenders out there now creating excellent content, entertaining content, but I don’t trust them with teaching ability.

I play a links style course and every winter my Hcp goes up after playing well / decent during summer… I’m at 8 and was at 5
I’ve got a goal of 3 or less by January – turning 50 and playing the number 1 ranked course in Australia (Barnbougle) and want to play well

I think, on the last point, that it's a good idea to use only a couple of online sources. I've followed your content for years and years, and over that time have built a real and valuable database for the golf swing and its various adjustments. Bad creators don't tend to have a very broad inventory of content, and that can be a sign that they may not know exactly what they're on about.

Watched countless videos but always found yours to be spot on

I’ve completely lost interest in the game lately and played competitive sport from age of 7 and called it a day yesterday after 50 years of various sports always said once I lost interest in winning time to quit

Currently on 27, but handicap isn't my goal – I have goals around fairways, up & downs (= 1 putts), limit double bogeys (helps with sensible decisions). Score is the result of those – it's a result, not a target.. Great content. Thanks

Could you do a video on how to use a launch monitor to improve your game? I got a Mevo plus recently and I understand most of the data as in what it is telling me but I’m struggling to understand what I should be looking at to improve.

What a great video Mark! Answers to two of your questions: my current WHI is 11.4 and the goal is 9 by the end of the year (I was on 16.1 at the start of the year). Second answer: I've just received at full set of Takomo 101T irons and SF002 wedges; had my first round with them today and super happy with them.
