Known as reverse routing, this is the original way The Old Course was played: golfers navigated the historic links clockwise, starting on the 1st tee and playing to the 17th green, then from the 18th tee to the 16th green, and so on. This was the standard until the late 1800s, when the modern counter-clockwise routing became the norm.
