Ryan Lavner shares his perspective on why the fan behavior at the 2025 Ryder Cup “crossed the line” and how it’s on the PGA of America to minimize the vehement opposition moving forward, as well as the necessary changes needed for the U.S. team ahead of 2027. #GolfChannel #RyderCup #BethpageBlack

Bethpage Black’s fan behavior at 2025 Ryder Cup ‘crossed the line’ | Golf Central | Golf Channel

In the full team press conference on Sunday, the American team seemed incredibly upset about the envelope/injury rule, but they didn't seem concerned at all about the fan behavior. Not a good look. This team had an opportunity to step up and make a clear statement about what is acceptable behavior, and they didn't. Weak.
Everyone but the American team is willing to call out this behavior. They are so terrified of upsetting a subset of fans they refuse to address it…….even though most golf fans are embarrassed by it.
Brian Harmon at the open
i think the U.S.A. fans made a bigger mistake than Keegan Bradley's mistake(s). The fans should've used their pent-up emotion to rally our players, infuse them with confidence & belief instead of taunting The European Team & making fools of themselves.
Really – that's as evident as the convicted felons incompetence at being the president
Thank you Lav for calling it straight. There is a mob mentality that can't tell the difference between the Euro crowd waving caps at Cantlay in Rome and the drunks verbally abusing players' wives at Beth Page. On the "alternate" player thing replacing the envelope rule, I'm less worried about teams abusing it than the idea that 9 times out of 10, someone will be announced as a "Ryder Cup Winner" without ever hitting a shot in competition. That would cheapen the entire event and the achievement of the winning players.
I would say throwing beer bottles at rorys wife was crossing the line seemed to miss pointing that out
This is stupid, these guys don't need this, it's not a video game people need to grow up especially the ones that "are" grown up.
It was clearly bad, and both Bradley, the team, and the PGA needed to come out with a much stronger statement regarding fan behavior. I will say though that this is not exclusive to Bethpage or NY (Waste Management for example) Bradley made a lot of mistakes, but the bottom line is that the Europeans just care more about this competition. They are better prepared, better coached, and MUCH better at best-ball and alternate shot. The American's plan seemed to be hold serve on the first two days, and seal it in singles. When that blew up, they didn't have plan B.
Shame Shame Shame on the disgusting gallery … nasty nasty people … hoping this golf course never gets a large tournament ever again
It starts at the top for this fan behavior. Not the PGA or Keegan but Trump. He's created this mindset across the country that you can mouth off with no consequence
The reserve player is a terrible idea
I blame on the American players….look at Justin Thomas……when Rory backs off from that putt Justin Thomas said and did nothing…WHY ? Because he doesn't have any balls. The American players could have put their hands up or said something to stop that behavior. Disgusting behavior !
The crowd was horrible but so was Rory and Lowry, you can't curse the fans and then complain when they curse you. Rory gets way too much special treatment. If a player doesn't play, than he should forfeit the match and lose… just that simple. Rewarding a player for not playing is ridiculous and unfair.
As an American I'm so embarrassed! New York must be banned from ever hosting a golf tournament!!! NUFF SAID
Listen, STOP sugar coating the fact that insane asylum morons were allowed to be HEARD – They are all fools and must, now, be forced to abide by RULES which manages their idiotic behavior – and/or, turn off the microphones on the course!!
;-]
SHOT TO THE FEET PROBLEM – SOLVED, Baby!!
GO EUR, 2027, in Ireland – where folks know how to be, dare i say it – well mannered & cordial, at the RYDER CUP!!
Go new york go new york go!
MURICA…embarassing…just shows how the US has fallen….
Typical behavior from NY sports fans.
Those aren’t New Yorkers. There were tons of dorks from all over the county who amassed to do the heckling barstool nerd thing. New Yorkers are tough but don’t stoop to that level.
The U.S. has become a "Trailer Park Trash" country.
ONLY AMERICANS CAN TURN A GAME FOR THE RICH INTO TRASH.
NOW THEY ARE TURNING THE WHOLE COUNTRY INTO TRASH.
I'm sure the USA politics had nothing to do with this.
Don't bring a family to events like this unless you want them to hear fans acting badly. Look at the Master's tournament or U.S. Open, or British Open – their standards are much higher. The Ryder Cup has a tarnished reputation. What a shame.
Don’t let maga in anywhere
PGA charging $750 per ticket, for whatever excuse they want to make, is nothing but greed, in my opinion. Probably with charging so much is why they didn't step in and take control of all the disrespectful things the first day, and throughout the tournament as it steadily got worse…PGA had more thought of money on the brain, than respect for players and real golf fans, in my opinion. If there were actually only $50K fans allowed in each day, with what they were charging, that's $112,500,000 for just three days of competition, plus everything else they made money on, which seems extreme to me, and seems like it was more about the money than the Ryder Cup competition, for the PGA. Paying US players $200,000 each to play in the Ryder Cup, win or lose, sounds like it might be more about the money than competition for them as well, instead of pride for their country. I'd like to know how many in the gallery each day were actually from NY, I'm guessing half or less and since we don't know how many were can NY be blamed for the obnoxious behavior by those in the gallery? Not in my opinion.
I don't believe those being so rude to be really golf fans, or they wouldn't have acted the way they did, as much as they seemed to be there just to show their lack of self control, and see just how much they could get away with, while partying and just being disruptive, which they did a lot of, and it got worse each day, thanks to nothing really being done by PGA. Does anyone think this kind of behavior would ever be tolerated at the Masters, absolutely not, Augusta National Golf Club would never allow it, not even once, so I'm wondering why the PGA does/did, with overseeing the whole tour. If a standard of respect for whatever/whoever it is, is allowed to be lowered even just once, then the standard has been lowered…and can/will continue if not corrected…can you hear me now PGA, or are you still counting your money. Maybe the PGA tour should be turned into a circus every weekend, with the gallery acting like they did in "Happy Gilmore", since it seemed to be very similar this past weekend. Integrity is doing the right thing/s, even if you can get away with doing the wrong ones…and I believe adult-ish child like behavior, should be treated/corrected as such.🤔🤫
We set our greens up so difficult for a Southern California club championship match against Long Beach public links men’s club and it backfired big time. They wiped the floor with us .
Pearl clutching by soft ass Golf fans💯 These people better never show up to an NFL game, they may actually die….
Fat chance New York will see another tournament for awhile ..
trump's america
why did they decide to wear those silly red hats. fans thought they were at a presidential rally
Brandel chamblee is ruining golf . And also having Paul maginley announcing for us was horrible, huge jinx . And Dan hicks needs to go buy car dealership and straight
We almost came back. We lost fair and square and the New York fans didn't disappoint at all. Their immaturity and stupidity was absolutely expected. I say screw Bethpage. They showed clearly that they don't deserve big tournaments.
they need to stop with the USA auSS maggots chant, its f dumb and you are not at a Political event.
I wonder how many hecklers are also Trump supporters? Coincidental? 🤔
Why did your commentator Chamblee take it upon himself to right before the start of the Cup, make an attack on the American player Bryson. Interesting but deliberate timing. Chamblee did not criticize nor make critical remarks about the 2 Euro LIV players.
Tour Golfers are soft.
New york clowns
I always thought people who went to Golf Tournaments were massive Douchebags.
PGA needs to own their role in this !
NY, you had to expect it. What surprised me is how everyone failed to step in and stop it. Reminds me of people on cell phones videoing a guy being beat up and not helping them.
Welcome to generation zero.
The Americans hurt the American team.
bunch of good good, barstool grant horvant lovers out there harrassing players is pathetic. all those zyn cans got to the american fans
This kind of behavior starts at the top, and has been sanctioned by the Fascist in the White House.
Grow up, captain America.
Nasty, ugly, vulgar spectators. New York should not host another major golf until the behavior of the fans changes. ⛳️🇺🇸✝️
Captain did a “ pretty admirable job.” What tournament was this commentator watching?
Bethpage should be blacklisted from not just all future Ryder Cup venues, but banned from all future PGA events.
