I must say that I watch a LOT of YT golf instructional videos, and many of them focus on getting "pressure" onto the lead foot, aka, this step drill, before even completing the backswing! I have tried this, along with many other "recentering" drills and "feels"….. and they just don't work for me. This early move forward has left me with an incurable, excessively abbreviated backswing and overly quick transition. Frankly, it looks horrid on video. All because I spent years practicing this early transition move, without the help of video feedback. This early shift forward, onto my lead foot, has a tendency to make me smother the ball, and/or come over the top of the ball, and leads me to massive pulls, tops, and shanks. I also watch a LOT of televised PGA events, and not once, have I ever "perceived" a tour player planting their lead foot to initiate the downswing. They all simply appear to rotate around their TRAIL foot, even pushing off of it, as Rory M says he does. That, to me, seems to be the key to consistency and power. Using that trail foot as a sort of "door hinge", and swinging the body, and hence, the club, around it as the pivot point. Yes, the weight swings forward, but it appears to be purely rotational, hanging off of the trail side, again, much like a door hanging on it's hinges, without a thought of getting all of the pressure on the lead foot. If it is purely the lead foot that matters in the downswing, then why even load up on the trail side at all, if you're not going to use it in any real way? Just stand on your lead foot and swing if that's all that is needed. But it's not…. it's about that trail foot, about pushing off of it, and turning around it. Even the great Bobby Jones, and his wonderful early 1930's golf series, who lifts his lead heal so high off the ground, that only his toes remain in contact, doesn't get that heal planted until just before impact… Ben Hogan, never mentioned driving pressure into his lead foot, or pulling with his lead side; he was all about rotating the hips, and keeping the feet "quiet". I don't say this to be negative, or contrarian, but it simply does not seem to be how the "Pros" swing the club. Usually, both feet are either totally flat on the ground just before impact, or the trail foot is rolled up on the inside, still pushing… which means there must be significant ground forces being applied from the TRAIL FOOT, at least up to and including the moment of impact. Often times, a golf swing is compared to the movement that an MLB pitcher makes…. but again, they don't pull with their lead foot, they LAND ON IT! All of the momentum is generated from the trail foot! It just seems (to me anyway) that what the feet do is a byproduct of of the torso action. Again, I appreciate these drills and tips, but they don't seem to be the way that elite golfers actually swing the club… Even your own swing at the beginning of this video (which equals the best tour swings I might add), appears contrary to the instruction. You don't appear to be moving any significant pressure onto your lead foot untIl you've made a complete backswing, and even then, that momentum appears to be moving around your trail side, swinging your body open around the trail side, and LANDING on your lead foot. Anyway, just my "two cents" opinion, probably about what my opinion is worth. LOL

All great tips Coach, I’ve used them all. My ball contact improved the most when I took my right side out of the equation. Went to more of a pull dominant swing, even improved my weight transfer. 👍

Too complicated, keep 75% of your weight on your left side from set up and throughout the swing.
