Video Description
I gained 20 yards off the tee with the driver overnight to see if it would help my scores. Playing on the course with tour player distances but still using my accuracy — or lack of — to see if it affects my scores and chances of playing pro golf.
Hitting the golf ball longer and straighter is everyone’s dream, but just what does it do to your golf game and is it a goal you should be chasing in your game?

"Driving is more important than putting".

You need Clarkson for encouragement. Speeeeeeeed, powerrrrr!
so close to half a million subscribers, good luck hope you get there soon. You were really the OG golf content creator
quinta do lago😍
and my ball speed right now is a paltry 135😢
Always enjoy when these three get together.
Give me muppets or give me death
This is so interesting to watch. Next episode Mark is going to come out in one of those bionic suits as an experiment.
I agree, speed does not just translate to driver…helps through the bag all the way to pitches…also if you can bang a 3iron/hybrid where your playing partners are hitting driver…and hit W when they hit 7in, going to help scores especially on an off day…
Are we going to see a chipper on the journey? Thanks for the video very interesting concept
@markcrossfield I would love to compare this to you swinging at 90% and hitting every fairway. With your ball striking I bet it’s not much different.
So how is the training? I have just cleared out garage and got the weights back out and rubber bands ready. I have even found a yoga video!!! This golf bug has got me 👍
I don’t get the math for the 2-3 yds per mph – please explain
I still can’t get past the 2 iron. Why not a 2 hybrid at the same loft or a 5 wood?
A very interesting experiment, more of these please :).
Also what are your driver numbers at the minute (AoA / Ball Speed / Launch Angle / Spin Rate / Dynamic Loft)? So the 2nd hole in this video where you got a 165 ball speed, and you said it went about 260… I'm guessing that's total? On the Trackman driver fitting chart that optimizes for carry, a 110 club speed with 163 ball speed hitting 5* up with 13.7* launch and 2435 spin should carry 279. Modify this for a 0 AoA and it should carry 266. Might be worth an experiment of really trying to hit up on it and see if you can get those knucklebomb drives!!! 🙂
When you say some speed gained from fitness and some from “swing” do you mean technical change or speed training ?
A 2 iron?? I know I haven’t watched for a (long) while, but a 2 iron? How did that happen?
this was a great video cause I think the same if I hit it 15-20 further I could get from 5 down to around scratch I hit alot of fairways but only 245 ish of the tee when the tees are forward for winter im shooting around level all times
Great stuff, guys. Coach Lockey is wearing PAYNTR Golf shoes. My coach, Marcus Bell, @GRFGolf, recommended them to me as well. They are great.
You don’t like Oasis?
Great to see you three on the course together
Are you trying for the senior tour with a chipper in the bag?
@markcrossfield can we just have a discussion for a second, 2-iron in the bag, Chipper out of the bag? Really? We need a hack it out pod on this.
You need to test against Locky with a balata ball, because of the ball roll back, it mite not matter,,
Would've loved to see this playing out both balls and if there's actually any scoring difference.
Why not just play up and see what you score?
#262 pat-field.
What is the launch monitor you guys were using? Great stuff. Enjoy your time down south. 🌞 ⛳️
so long as you can achieve 262 yds with driver , never have to go yo the gym and can have caramel syrup in your coffee then you are doing very well .
180!!
What a great vid lads so interesting…I've been on eBay trying buy speed for years no one selling 😂😂
Great to see you playing on a lovely dry course while the rest of us are playing in the damp soggy weather here at home.
Any chance of proper winter tips now like putting on damp greens. Also the effects of rain and cold on how the ball reacts. Cheers Mark 👍☔️🏌️♂️
Dan Hendrickson did a similar video with his brother Paul about 5 years ago, but played from the red tee's to show where he needs to be for the approach shots. This is a better way of showing the game and speed that we all need.
Mark, it's 3 years since you moved the needle way past 262. So what's been the score differential between the last 3 years compared to your 262 days?
Great drive on 2nd hole Mark, much more fun PAR. 😂 The pros separate themselves like Harvey Penick said. "short game short game short game"
Friction between the ball and the tee?!….tell me you're not buying that candy Matthew?!
"Cornhole! What did you call me??"
Why didn't you play the original shots for a true comparison?
