With the American Century Championship right around the corner, broadcasting legend Rich Eisen has one problem: he’s played five rounds all year. So he handed his swing to PG Elite Performance Coach JT Thomas for a Fixin’s lesson with a single mission, find the Root Flaw and get him ready for Tahoe in 15 minutes.
The American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe is the biggest celebrity golf tournament in the world, and Rich is coming off a finish near the bottom of the leaderboard last year. Between hosting The Rich Eisen Show, launching NFL Network back in 2003, and decades on camera since his SportsCenter days, golf is the one thing he never has time to practice. This lesson is his head start.
Every golfer has a Root Flaw, the one move buried in the swing that creates a domino effect of five or six other problems. JT finds Rich’s in about four swings, shows how standing up in the backswing has been behind his thin shots and his misses to the right, and gives him a couple of simple feels that change his ball flight almost immediately. By the time they reach driver and start rehearsing his first-tee walk-up for Tahoe, Rich looks like a different golfer. If you’ve got a big round coming and almost no time to prepare, this is the lesson for you.
