A lot of golfers are trying to shallow the golf club with their hands and arms, but the real problem often starts much earlier.
In this lesson, we look at why a good golfer was getting too steep in the downswing, even though he was actively trying to shallow the club. The issue was not simply the hands. It came from how his upper body and spine were positioned at the top of the backswing.
When the spine leans too much towards the target, the body can force the club to steepen early. From there, the golfer has to make a late compensation to shallow it out.
Better players tend to do the opposite: they prepare the body better, shallow the club earlier, then rotate and apply speed later.
In this video, we’ll show you what most golfers get wrong, how the best players create the conditions to shallow the club, and what to look for in your own swing.
