How far do you hit your 7 iron golfers?
A well hit 7 iron for me is 140. That said, I use it for shots at 130 because I always try and hedge my distances in case of a less than flush strike.
P770 standard loft 7 iron = 170-175 carry. 12.4 hdcp
I’m 72 and hit my PXG 31 degree 7 hybrid about 135 yds. I play 5-GW hybrids. I only have a SW iron in my bag.
68 year old. 30 degree 7 iron carries 130. 4 handicap. Distance is overrated. Seems like all the people in your sample need to learn to chip and putt. 😂
I went to the range yesterday with the mindset of…make sure you keep where the face of the club strikes the ball. Towards the end of my session…I found myself not even paying attention to where the ball went, but rather taking a mental snapshot of the face as it hit the ball.
I found that when I finally picked my head up (a good half second after I hit the ball)…the ball was right where I figured it would be based off the snapshot.
about 150 metres for me I'm 29 hip
i'm an embryo and i carry my 7 irons 295. i play blades from 1965
I am a 15 handicap with Paradym AI Smoke Irons so the 7 is 28 and 8 is 32 (I plan on upgrading soon, its what I got fitted into before) and my 7 is a 180 carry and my 8 is a 165 ish carry when hitting a tour response, tp5, or pv1
I'm a 68 year old, my PXG 0211 DC 7 iron with 28* of loft goes between 147-152 yards.
I consistently hit my 7 iron – a Wilson staff blade 34 degrees – 165 yards. I am a 21 handicap…mainly because i am rubbish around and on the green
34-degree 7-iron, 180 yds or so with a good strike and a normal swing.
No idea what my handicap is because I don't care. I am trying to break 90 each time out. My ball striking is leaps better than my putting because I am very impatient when putting.
Maltby TS3, 32* 7i. 180 carry.
I have just upgraded my irons from P790 > T150’s as my P790 can go from 150 meters – 175 meters… T150’s average 160 Meters 8HC and the worst putter in the history of golf ⛳️
Is this worldwide data or uk? Always thought the ball went further at higher altitudes and in warmer weather?
I need newer irons, but I'm hitting King Cobra II Steel Stiff 7 iron 162-165 carry. It's roughly 32 or 33 degrees. If I pound it, then it goes 170 carry (not total). 22 handicap and hopefully getting better. 6'2" 255 lbs
I am hitting my 30 degree Apex 7 iron 160-165 yds. I am a tall fellow (78 inches) and a 15 handicap
33.75 degree 7-iron @ 140 yards. Golf goals right now are to make a round with the same ball and break 100 (about 50% of the time on a familiar course).
As I got better and with handicap improvements I never really changed my distance. It's been the tour average I think at 180 carry. There is a reason that is the average because it doesn't take much effort just flexibility and having an athletic swing. I'm Looking to break into the single digit handicap soon so the grind continues lol
162 Y gapped. P790.
Here endeth the lesson. You're good Mark, you're really good.
S 56 Deg 95m, U 48 Deg (ping) 110m, P 45 Deg 120m, 9 41 Deg 130, 8 37 Deg 140, 7 33 Deg 150m, 6 29 Deg 160m, 5 26 Deg 170, (Titleist AP1) Hybrid 4 23 Deg (Adams) 185m, 5W 20 Deg 200m, 4W 18 Deg 215m (max) (Callaway) Driver 11 Deg 240m (Taylor Made M5) AGU 9.5 Play once a week never practice.
160-165 carry 7i with AoA -5 34* loft -2*lie. But hcp is 12 lol. Anyway, what UI/software is that?! I see a foresight GC3 or something but my screen doesn't look like that at all
160
Has nobody noticed his GCquad is showing SKYTRAK software?!
Ya’ll can believe whatever Arrcos garbage you want, its rubbish. Arrcos doesnt seperate age which massively sqews the stats. 3 of us play weekly, a 3, myself a 10 and an 18….all hit 7 iron 165-170. I have been golfing over 40 yrs and have never hit less than 150 and have never seen anyone who isnt 12 or 75 who hits less than 150-160. I also play traditional lofts, 34 degree 7. At 55 i still hit 170. I am also friends with 4 diff club pros who laugh at Arrcos as well. Until they break it down by age + handicap its numbers will never be truely accurate. If you’re 30 and cant hit a 7 a min of 160 dont tell yourself “well, Arrcos must be correct”, instead, learn how to actually hit your clubs.
Taylormade P770 Battle Worn with the gunmetal Nippon 120 shafts – 33 Degrees of loft on the 7i and on average it goes 156 carry and 163 total. 49 Years Old and 20 hcp and rapidly dropping. Just picked the game back up after a 15-year hiatus.
Between 140-145 yards in carry
Been hitting my 7I 156 to 160
Taylormade P970 130g dynamic golds, I think the base loft is around 30.5. Carry 196, with rollout 203.
Edit add : I’m 32 for context
Traditional lofts all the way.
ZXi7 32* 172 yards – 9.9 hdcp. In my mid 20’s and basically sea level.
If a scratch golfer is only hitting the green 51% of the time with a 7-iron, he/she is not likely a scratch golfer! That would mean they would have to get up and down for par on half the round which is not likely!
16 hdcp, average carry with my 7 iron is 190 (I live in Colorado, so that presumably helps things). Club head speed ~115 mph.
I don’t get it. Still no mention of 7 iron loft that the data is based on.
I'm 62 y.o., 16 index , and my 35 degree 7 goes 130 to 135 yds.
Who cares. You should ask can you hit Laser shot trajectory?
60 years old hitting my 34* 7 iron 135 at 18 handicap.
Handicap really has very little to do with comparing distances hit. Yes, most lower handicap golfers will hit their ball farther than beginners but once a person gets a somewhat consistent swing distance is rarely the issue in lowering a handicap. I don't keep a handicap anymore but at one time was an 8 and I hit well over the scratch handicap average. Distances was not the issue. I rarely play a round with anyone under 60 who doesn't hit their irons within 5 yards of the scratch average and none of them are scratch golfers. Handicap is not a meaningful metric for anything other than average score on a certain difficulty rated course and I wish folks would quit trying to make it matter where it doesn't.
I guarantee no 4 some has the same lofted 7 iron. Wish we spoke more in loft than club identifiers.
140 meter average, 50 years old with shoulder issues
