Video Description
This isn’t what a LOT of golfers think. In this video I will be going over the relationship between the body and the wrists and how it can affect your ability to release the golf club correctly, but so many golfers go wrong with this.
Your wrists and body hold the key to playing better golf, your hands, if used correctly, can create any curve, any height and almost any shot, so it would make sense to make the most of that giving you more control over your golf ball.. but you need to use your body and wrists at the right time.
If greats of the game like Tiger Woods say they hit most of their shots through their hands, we should probably listen and explore just what they can do, and you will be surprised and how much control you get by using them correctly.
The drills and exercises in this video are really simple, easy to follow and can be done by everyone!

What is better? Well make sure you make the correct decisions just like my student Robbie
My struggle is the driver, I hit it good sometimes but I just cannot be consistent with it. I never feel comfortable or in control of the swing. It’s frustrating.
Very interesting will give it a try, am I right in saying Tommy Fleetwood uses this swing

funny to see the rushes at the end of the video 🙂 @AlexElliottGolf
Can you use the body release for a 6 iron, I find that body release let's me hold the shaft lean a d good contact
Thanks for the video. Can you do a video on a C3I? I'm having alot of really high hits that only go 5 feet to hitting low shots across the green. Thanks.
So why not just use body release (more accurate) and take more club when needed. Can’t imagine trying to use both swing types during a round of golf. That sounds like a disaster for anyone other than a scratch player.
Alex, for your swing what is the yardage difference for a driver using body swing and arms swing? And what is the difference for your 6-iron using the two types of swings?
Could the body swing for a driver be considered a "fairway finder" swing? Curious how much distance you lose with your swing.
I like your "analysis determination" of when to use a body release as opposed to the arm/wrist release type shots. I will definitely take note and be using this when I play golf tomorrow. Well Done Alex!
different nut interesting s d will yry
Me using a 9 iron for a 140 yd. shot. In my dreams.
You nailed it again Alex.
What leads the way on the downswing is it your shoulders firing or your hips firing
100 yards on in using the arms close to body using lob, sand and attack wedge and hitting down and through works great for me. I seem to have more miss hits when I take the club back and cock my wrists and stand the club up than just focusing on taking my arms back, especially my left arm, close and across my chest and not cock my wrist as much.
I have recently been trying this, i was referring to it as a knock down shot, i had to play a body swing to stay under tree limbs and
notice improved accuracy. Your tips are very helpful !
I find it better overall if I feel that my body controls the arms 👍
Good explanation again Alex
Excellent explanation regarding the importance and difference between short irons ( scoring) and long irons.
For me … When I must find a fairway or green I do more body. When playing for distance I am more arms and wrists.
I love the way you break things down Alex. Thank you once again.
Is the body release on longer clubs like 3 wood and long irons what to do for stingers?
I've been doing this the last 3 years, and I've been in the mid to high 70's ever since, I would also encourage every golfer to try and perfect the HALF shot, it really helps from 100 yards and in.
Maybe this is why I'm shit at the par 3's?!
Great video, need to work on body release
I'll make the observation that margin for error is magnified with longer irons. So if I sacrifice accuracy there, it's 3-5x the dispersion I'd get doing the same for the short irons. IDK. That's been my experience.
Doosh vs dah. I like it.
Body v arms and wrist..totally incomprehensible…swings looked the same to me?
wow so alex i always love lessons i retired a few months ago and joined a golf society lol and now have the bug obvs i will never be a scratch golfer but following your tips and tricks i am now down to 20 hcp but i am despirate to hit a drive of 240 or better if possible carry that is lol my drives is around 190 ish better course managment and your chipping tips have helped massively but watching this video i dont think i am using my wrists correctly as i seem to lack power the lads are saying i swing like a girl it looks pretty but no oomph please can you make me a rambo and not a dildx
You arms hands release looks much more relaxed less tension. For me as a senior that works much better.
Hi Alex, I tried this on my lasr nine hole and saw a significant difference. I also used your tip about chipping with the sleeves tucked under the arms. Finally I also add lifting the big toe of my left foot and bringing my right knee in at setup with driver to fix my slice.
I was shooting in the mid nineties, Yesterday scored a 41 for 9.
My biggest issues are consistency and my shoulder rotation is flat and causes me to pull my shot into the woods.
Any tips to ensure more consistent shoulder turn would be welcome.
I love your videos, keep it up.
Really useful video. Great idea and gives a excellent reason for the change
Alex, what release would you use on a par 3 off a tee peg? Assuming 7 iron or less. Won't the ball react differently off a peg?
