Finally someone brought up the 5 week gap before Rome. Illnesses aside, this was likely the biggest factor and mistake on the US side going into Rome. Meanwhile European players played not one but at least two tournaments in that time to keep them sharp going into the Rome Ryder Cup.

So will the PGA Tour suspend a player for teeing it up at the Ryder Cup? After all, it’s not a PGA Tour event, it’s not 72-hole stroke play, it’s sponsored by a company owned by an Arab totalitarian regime, it’s a team format, plenty of people call it an exhibition, and it doesn’t even give OWGR points. Funny how the rules bend when it suits them…
