I dont understand how the Ryder cup even gets ratings. Its an exhibition. Not even close to the excitement for Major championships. I dont understand how you can even say it would be hard to be a captain and play. You just make picks and do a few tasks for team building.

This is not a bad thing for tommy when you see what happened to JJ almost winning the players championship and then beating the same position again at the U.S. Open is gonna win the British Open so I rather take a British and then the silly goose travelers championship

I do not like the idea of Keegan as a playing Captain at all. Lav said it best, you have to be completely bought in to your own roll to make it work. Being the Captain while also playing is way too much. I want Keegan 100% focused on steering the ship and I think he will do an exceptionally great job with it. I absolutely believe the team will buy in to Keegan’s Captaincy. The European team will be no joke. Keegan needs to solely focus on being the Captain in my opinion….and btw Lav that Adidas shirt is fire.

#asklav, Do Rex and Lav think the 5 w/ds at the Travelers were due to the players being pissed and embrassed that Oakmont kicked their butt and they didnt want to be at the Travelers?

I would not call it a complication. If Keegan plays he will get help like Tiger (as mentioned). I also think it could be good for the US team for the captain to have his mind busy with his own game. So as not to overthink the captaincy. And I like the captain having his sweat and tears in the game. Hard for the players to feel captain is disconnected when he is one of them.

Tommy Fleetwood brings Montgomery to mind. I agree Rex decisiveness is the key. I been telling my players I give needed information (wind, yards, etc) you confidently pick the shot and club.

Buried the lead with the women’s pga. Which I understand because there was a lot to criticize. Amy did a nice job. Minjee was awesome. The challenge was totally fine imo. But the course. I was curious about the course. It is not thrilling to think how much this course is going to be used for PGA of America championships moving forward. We have qualified for some hot pga events but this is not a reward for being in a major. This really is unacceptable, especially in the Summer as Rex said (another strong point).

Women’s golf has 3 majors right now. And if the pga keeps going to less than great golf courses it could be two. Imo. Don’t start with the Players please.

Sig events were fine. I liked them more for the pga tour when they were fuller field. The travelers reminds me of that Sesame Street song: one of these things is not like the others …
It’s fine to have levels within the Tour. They just need to make sure it’s fair. The lower money tournaments can still find ways to be great tournaments like Sony.

Saw a lot of Jordan gutting it out.

Clarke. Omg I’m beginning to see why he has his haters.

I wanted Tommy more than anything. This wasn’t the Ryder cup

Keegan should be playing captain, just appoint Steve Stricker as vice captain and he is covered.

Monsoon of tears from me about Tommy. Painful interview. Hope Tommy rebounds and does a JJ at The Open.

    Great pod.

There’s a reason Tommy hasn’t won on tour, we saw a microcosm on 18 of it.

That was the best second shot I have seen during this tournament. Keagan stole it from Fleetwood. Congratulations Keagan.

Cantlay and Speith….no ….No …..NO! Neither is performing nor is worthy of Ryder Cup selection. That take reflects a line of thought which ensures another loss

the US team is shaping up like a disaster, and the season long questionable Euros (Fitz, Bobby Mac, and Hovy Metal) are all coming into form. injuries, tons of sophomore slumps, they just lost Spieth & Horschell (insert 2 more rookies there). they are going to need experience to win. the Euros are too deep.

A Grand Slam is a baseball term. It means 4. Using that term for 5 doesn’t make sense. Super Slam is not a bad idea, but I think it’s easier to leave it at 4.

The origin on the Signature Event Series real origin was a way to get the Delaware 30 the LIV level of money without the guilt. It was meant to be LIV light. The Sponsors will not do this forever. Especially if fields expand and there is still no guarantee of whom plays in the field each time. It will feel like we paid a lot more money for a lot less. It would be a betrayal.

When the topic of Keegan playing and serving as captain came up on Sky Golf, Dame Laura Davies said she liked it bc it would help Europe (or words to that effect) I sure hope that he doesn’t try to do both!

Love Tommy Fleetwood even more than before…classy guy. With what must have been the most disappointing day for him, he stopped and shared with all of us how he was feeling. We felt it, too, as a result.

Can someone tell me please how much work there has to be done being captain of the Ryder Cup team? These guys talk about it like it's an all consuming task. Like managing a football team or something. I don't understand. I thought you just pick your team and go out and play golf against another team over a weekend.

Bradley played great and got lucky sinking that VERY long putt. But Fleetwood left two birdie putts short by an inch – and then got that bad break on the par-3 16th where his tee shot just barely rolled off the back edge leading to a bogey.

I agree with lav on the schedule, less is more. Things were way better when the pga championship was in august, things are too compressed now.

NOBODY WANTS TO TALK ABOUT RUSSEL HENLEY CALLING A PENALTY ON HIMSELF COST HIM THE PLAYOFF????????????
    Sheesh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is it all about Keegan? It should be all about Russel!!!!! Just because Keegan will be a useless captain for the losing Murican Ridder Cup shambles, he gets all the hype??????? How about giving credit to Russel for being a gentleman and calling himself on it????????????????????

You can't put Spieth on the Ryder Cup as a pick. Unless he finds the form to qualify, that will mean both Spieth and the captain will have no idea how he will play if he shows up. He still has too many holes and rounds when he has no idea where the ball is going to go. And his putting has gone from rock solid to streaky with notable bad spells.

Regarding Fleetwood, it looked like he started playing defensively instead of attacking the holes. In particular, he got really conservative on #16, which led to airmailing the green.

The Oakmont members are delighted. Their golf course was making guys break. Exactly what they wanted.
