Feel like you slow down at the right point! And you’ll speed up!

I don't know. So many instructors contradict each other. This angle this position. I swing my arms with my body, make sure I get width. When I start my backswing I think about my shoulder getting that club extended. Downswing I think about my back shoulder coming through. Feeling the weight of the club throughout and letting it do the work. It's effortless, takes care about 20 things that you don't need to think about, the clubhead squares itself and I compress and hit the ball straight and far. All without trying to manipulate the club. It's that simple.

Does proper tempo for our biomechanics maximize our speed/power in the swing?

Baloney. I do agree with the slow one piece take away (gives you time to set yourself) but I do not agree with slowing it down after you have struck the ball. You must continue the movement to a high finish.

Hi alex. I am aware of this already. A lot of people probably aren’t. This is a very advanced concept very difficult to execute with anything other than pure feel. Would a good swing thought be to get to the point of impact position as quickly as possible and then “wait” for the club to pass through?

    Thanks Alex????

for those in construction, it's like driving a nail. the wrists have to rotate properly to develop clubhead speed.

The basic idea of slowing the hands to allow the club head to accelerate is sound, Padraig Harrington has talked about this and he knows a lot more about the golf swing than the rest of us!

The idea that we need to be fast in the back swing is total nonsense, it will work for some people (usually young, fit and strong enough to handle the forces involved), but for the majority of golfers it is the wrong way

I’ve been “Playing” for about 2 years now. Started at 52 and bought a simulator, nothing fancy.
I’m fairly fit, but I don’t have near the flexibility anymore. I struggle mightily with club head speed. I’ve tried the “width” and “one piece body and arms” thing and I can tell you that it’s vey difficult to get any speed that way..
I’m excited to try this to see if I can improve my distance..
I know it requires timing, but maybe having a simulator and time will help me dial that in..
Certainly must be better than the impotent shots I’ve been hitting.
    Thanks Alex!

Pro lesson I had taught similar thing. He taught about efficiency at impact of ball, so he had me do half swings with trying to stop club just past the ball (which you can't do really). What happened is my 7 iron went from 150 yards to 170 yards, and I wasn't taking a full swing.

I honestly don’t get this. Slow down at impact? Seems almost impossible to me.

So can you show how is your old swing and now you new tip if real time and then both in slow motion.
