Bunker shots are the easiest shots in the sport—you don't even have to hit the ball, but the sand.
This piece is a load of old cobblers.

We the pro’s play bunkers out of the best conditions possible. For the rest of who play public golf courses, we hit out of bunkers that have no sand, have rocked, are poorly raked or kept up, feel like concrete. We play under extremely different playing conditions…so any instructional videos for amateurs to try to immulate the pros is a joke….

The best sand play is to stay out of bunkers.

The green side bunker isn't the most most difficult shot in golf

Not really a new thing. Been a playing pro for the last couple of years but I did that 8 or 9 years ago when I first started playing. That’s one of the reason why I never really had to train junker play and was always better than most even at high level

Thank god my coach actually taught me exactly how to hit bunker shots with this method and ive loved bunker shots ever since. He showed me how to alter my technique slightly for hard municipal sand or wet sad as well as nice country club sand. Then he gave me some secret sauce on how he hits fried eggs right next to the lip lol

5:18… The way Jason gets out of the bunker here, is the only way I used to play bunker shots. It worked kinda great actually… never thought of it as a trick shot

U missed the most important question tho that amateurs want to know. How to hit that perfect amount of sand first??
About all I’ve ever found is u try to skim off some sand. Talk about stating the obvious. The REAL question is HOW?

They should put a depth gauge on each trap. Love those hard pan traps

I was taught by the a pro to hit out of the bunker with a square face using the bounce over 20yrs ago. No one believed me that's the way I was taught.

Seve aimed shut and Gary player put weight on the lead side. We call it new school because everyone does it 🤣.

Low hands, weight on the left knee, smack the back of the club 1.5” behind the ball. Easy peasy.

Hitting the ground first with an open clubface? Sounds like a normal shot to me..

What bounce and technique is recommended for hard bunkers that do not have lots of sand. Or when the sand is wet and more compact?

As long as you slap the sand, you can set up all kinds of ways. You can hit the ball low, high, side spin, back spin, wedge it, mid iron it, etc. Slap the sand, and ur good.
