Darren's backswing goes outside the ball but Alex's backswing stays inside the ball.
This is a game changer. I, too, was always trying to open the club and keep my swing shallow to slide it under the ball in the sand. Unfortunately for me, I live in a desert and the traps here are often baked and pretty hard. The club often doesn't slide under the ball, but bounces off the top of the sand, leading to a bladed shot. Keeping the face more square and the swing steeper might well stop the club from bouncing off the hard sand. Any other advice for playing bunkers that are hard-packed?

The whole stance open/club face open is a very out dated 1980's 1990's style of bunker play, I can bet that there isn't a professional coach in the land that would teach that outdated method now.
Am I the only one who just hits a bunker shot like any other flop shot off the grass and it just works
Alex – What if you short side yourself and you need to hit a high short shot? Still open to 12:05 and shorter swing?
I have a bit of a mental block doing those type of open face flop shots. My hands always want to go towards the target and I end up shanking it right.
In bunkers I almost always keep a square club face and just change the club depending on the distance I want to get. Not perfect but I generally do well out of the bunkers.
I want to block all your videos , your “out of the box” “tips” always screw my game…
Thx for this bunker shot tip Alex. I am guilty of excessively opening my SW on bunker shots trying to get high loft and massive spin on the ball which almost everytime just gets me poor shots and soo much fustration to follow w/ it. Gonna put this great tip into use when i'm sitting in the beach. 🙃

interesting how another ut channel-"Danny Maude" from 11 months ago is saying something basically completely different for the same bunker shot.
