Excellent job Alex in explaining where the proper ball position should be for Driver! Very interesting in how you attained the proper ball position by your feet set up at address! I will definitely be looking into this since I am naturally an in to out swinger. Well Done Alex! Keep up the good work!

You have an older video explaining this same concept and it helped me immensely.
I had a massive slice to the right that I've managed to mostly correct to a nice straight drive by moving the ball position back and really focusing on crossing my right arm over the left to close the club face during the swing. Exactly as you demonstrated in this and the older video.
The next step that helped me make it more consistent was to "push" with my front leg to help bring my hips around fully. This I got from a Jake Hutt short.
Now I just need to get the repetitions in to make it muscle memory.

you talked about teeing up the ball b4 and playing it more forward, It worked got rid of my slice it hasn't given me any real distance tho. Now this video your saying move it back, I'm confused.

Question, as almost everyone advocates having the ball forward in the driver swing, along with the shoulder tilt – Why/how does the club head not ground out before it reaches the ball….Especially as everyone advocates keeping the tilt/lean back, so you can hit up on the ball

I remember watching a Mark Crossfield video years ago, in which he said "think about ball position as a playing field", some will find their optimal ball position a little further forward, some a little further back, totally dependant on how each individual move there body in the swing.

Alex I saw this video quite by chance before I went to the range this morning so I thought I’d try it . I can honestly say although there are a lot of Driver ball positions videos out there at the moment using your method I actually hit my driver the straightest I have ever hit it without doubt the straightest. So thank you and maybe all golfers struggling with their driver should take another look at their ball position

Nice tip Alex. This worked a treat for me. It’s cured my annoying fade and given me an extra 25 yards. Many thanks

A closed face with the first swing is a dead pull, correct? That may convince a few folks that..ya that's what I'm doing

Using ball position to fix your swing is inherently wrong. Yeah slight modifications is okay but moving ball position means you are trying to hit different type of shot. You gotta figure out what you are doing "wrong" in your swing. There is nothing inherently wrong with most ball positions; executing right swing path for certain ball position is what matters. If your swing path is outside in then put it all the way t the heel. If its othervise put it closer to the center; ie fade or draw.

Because frankly, thats something THAT SO MANY Golf YouTuber channels "teached" and advised us to do exactly that for years. And suddenly all of us "are doing it wrong"?

    Come on, really?

Great Alex – but are you still able to hit up with that ball position?

This is so timely! I went to a practice at a simulator this morning and realized that my club path was off because I was already arcing due to being set up too far forward. Glad to have my thoughts confirmed and a great way to see it visually!

The same mistake mid handicappers make when hitting driver is…hitting driver.

Tried this on my next round and was amazed, fixed my slice and the next round I did the same with the same result so now feel loads more confident teeing up with driver!

easy way to remember is to put ball lined up with the left shoulder with driver , move back for irons.

Intentionally closing the club face thru impact leads to inconsistency IMO…

  31. @haddenmiller4364

No you don't. That second shot is off your heel when looking head on. The first you played off your toe, which where most lost drivers tee it up.

You are missing a very clear body movement. On his initial ones where you show the problem is he opens his lead hip too early and too far. Ball position and swing is affected by that.

Can you do the ball strike on the face diagram with ball direction from slice to draw. And do the ball position with the different strikes.
Right now I close my face slightly at address and the stance is closed with front foot ahead of back foot. Ball placement is at the heel of front foot. I am then near center on the club face to just off toward heel or toe, and ball goes pretty much dead straight.
How to change so that I can gain control of a slight fade or draw?

I am watching this video again. The lesson was about standing position with drive. What about position for irons ?

I listened to you on playing the ball 1 club inside my lead foot and I have been hitting the ball straighter and up to 280 yards, not bad for a 68 yr old
