Your explanations are so clear and uncomplicated. Reminds me of the famous quote.” keep it simple, stupid.” I’m 75 years old and I still work hard on my game. These tips make absolute sense. My main issue is how often my club face contact is too far behind the ball. You may have done this before but it would be great if you could have a video showing different ways of improving that vital aspect of striking the ball: I notice if my ball contact is perfect the distance increases by about 10 m. Thanks for not only being interesting but entertaining at the same time!

    not when on a hole #3 par3 and I hit ob and then three-putted for a 6! I was -1 at the time. Then hole #6 par3 I got a 5!

Like the sprinkler advice. Can’t do the rest since no short game area, let alone chipping allowed on greens any where close to me 😅

I left my woods in the bag. 3 iron to tee off on par 4 and 5's. Took half swings. Hit balls staight and wasn't chasing all over the place. Played course managenent and scored better than normal. First time I ever tried it.

Makes perfect sense…might explain some lack of progress. Looking forward to giving it a try in the next few days..Thank you!

good short explanations….so many times I feel rushed and unorganized at the range. This definitely helps with that.

I literally thought having an 09 WRX would save me like 5 strokes over 18 and you debut a 4Runner….

Matt – great vid as always, but the real question is – what shoes are you wearing? I have a pair of Adidas MC80's that look very similar. Wondering if that's what you have. Most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. Sick looking also.

I like the concept sprinkler drill because I often feel like the tee boxes on certain holes are setting me up to fail. They aren't lined up in the perfect direction. I could see it helping to block out the linear dimensions of the tee box and hitting the ball where it needs to go.

I'd be ecstatic to be on the green and 30 feet from the hole on my 100 yard shots…I'm usually 15 feet off the green from 100 yards.

Dynamic stretching is all the rage these days. For golfers, that means using short chips as your warm-up!

Started golf last week and I’m getting addicted FAST.
I bought a used driver and went to the range three times, then picked up a set of irons and did two more sessions focused on the 5, 7, and 9 irons. I even bought a putter in the parking lot right after my second iron practice.

Day 1: Hit around 100 balls at the range. About 75% were slices, 10% went straight but had no height (so poor distance), another 10% were total mishits, and the last 5% were shockingly good.

Day 2: Focused more on my driver, hit another 100 balls and noticed some improvement in accuracy.

Day 3: I started hitting about half my drives straight, around 215–230 yards. The other half would slice when I tried to swing too hard, with the occasional mishit.

Day 4 (first iron session): Started with the 7 iron and was surprised how quickly I picked it up. I’d watched a few videos beforehand to understand the difference between iron and driver mechanics. I hit the 7 and 9 irons pretty damn straight right off the bat, about 120 and 100 yards respectively. I struggled with the 5 iron, lots of slices and hitting down too steep, but when I connected well, it flew about 130 yards.

Day 5: Picked up where I left off with the 5 iron and saw solid improvement: 150 yards with the 5, 130 with the 7, and 110 with the 9.

Day 6: No real distance gains, but my accuracy improved. Still slicing when I chased more club speed.

Day 7: Similar story, control was better, but any attempt at power brought the slice back.

Day 8 (today): Spent over two hours just practicing with my pitching wedge and working on putting. Sun went down and I still didn’t want to leave. I think I just fell in love with golf. Haven’t even touched a real course yet, but I’m totally hooked!

Great advice Matt! Oh, you meant to say 30 ft is 10 yards, not 100, lol.
