If a golfer can't break 90, either club will do.
Would be interesting if you did the same experiment with an 18-25 handicap player and then look at both distance and dispersion.

Almost certainly you delivered more loft given the softer shaft Joe. Would’ve been good to see the McG lofted down to 9 deg, which would’ve lowered flight & spin, but increased ball speed and likely the carry distance and roll out. Maybe worth a follow up vid??? 😉
Distance difference (probably the most important factor) was only 8% different. For a saving of £470 I'd say the MacGregor was really good value. Forgiveness is the other big factor but more difficult to measure.
About 20 yards would be.my guess. It's not just marketing and r&d. The materials used and build quality will be completely different.
A high handicap player will not see much difference in performance
My pal has just retired as a golf pro, ran his pro shop for 50 years, he was approached by the new owners of MaGregor and offered these drivers to sell on special offer at £50 retail, his purchase price was £10, what are they made of and where are they made. Classic, you get what you pay for. Not saying the MaGregor doesnt have a place in the market, just beware
If you just need cheap won’t Slazenger be cheaper ? Value is as a starter driver where it would succeed. Golf clubs 4 cash found me a r7 Superquad for £29 in great condition.
Noticed you had the Ventus Red Velocore shaft in the Ping driver which in itself is a $350 shaft upgrade compared to the stock (garbage) Macgregor shaft. So basically you compared a $170 driver to a $950 driver. Wonder if the results would be even closer if you get fit for the Macgregor with an upgraded shaft that fits you and then compare it to the fitted Ping driver.

What I’d like to know is how the cheaper club reacts after hitting a few 100 balls?
why even do this comparison without an identical grip and shaft setup? like…. numbers to me seem entirely related the shaft
The issue with this test is the same as with most other YouTube tests – the tester is an elite player. Retest these clubs with an average swinger around 95 mph swing speed. Results would be much more relevant.
