Do you struggle with a steep downswing or early tilt of the upper body toward the target? You’re not alone. In this video, we break down how to transition from the backswing to the downswing without “charging the ball” with your head or upper body.

Instead, you’ll learn the pro move of keeping the head back and allowing the lower body to initiate the transition—leading to a shallower path, more compression, and better ball striking.

We’ll cover:
✅ The common transition mistake that makes your swing steep
✅ The importance of keeping the head back through transition
✅ A simple feel and drill to stay behind the ball
✅ How to sequence your swing for more distance and control

This is one of the most powerful swing concepts you’ll ever learn if you want to eliminate your steep move and become a more consistent ball striker.

Great lesson as always. Question is this staying back and dropping hands, the same as having right side bend to help lower the hands to start the downswing?

I watched one of Adams videos that helped fix a toppish low fade. I cannot for the life of me remember what video it was. If anyone see's this and know's what video I am talking about that would be a huge help!

Hi Adam. Still like everybody looking for more consistency. Lately I have been trying to have a slightly flatter backswing so as to be more tilted and under my backswing plane. I realise this is difficult for you since not seeing my swing, but in general does this sound good. When I try this I have hit the ball further with carry, but yes inconsistently. I will spend time on the practice area, if you think it could be beneficial. Thanks in anticipation.

Funny, before I discovered PG, every time I start with crappy contact I “throw my head back” away from the target to start down and I’m all better. I don’t think anyone else on YouTube ever addressed it. So creative with your explanations and observations

I like the saying you've said before and say again here. You want to swing under neither you not around you. I like the head over right knee and keep it there concept. I feel like my swing is simpler, and I play better when I do that.

I know this is within the same realm, but would you be able to make a video on how to stop a pull?

This is hilarious… I go out on the range today. Hit the ball like hammered dog shit. See this, and say to myself “yeah, that’s me”

    Thanks for the fix AP

Great lesson Adam I've always had the knife to the left temple in my Driver and drive it pretty good. Irons have been off for months and was looking at changing my grip and take away. Just couldn't find a sequence with Irons. This lesson nails it ! No change apart from same thought with driver and knife to temple. Much respect from Australia mate .
