This is perfect. Exactly what im working on atm. Practicing my hip rotation and fast pull away to ground myself and now this will compliment those drills. 👌🏼💥🏌🏼‍♂️

Wise words! I managed to get some neuromuscular pain in my left hip that took a long time to clear up from training too hard. I'd also say that the older you are (ahem) you might have to skip another day between sessions. I found that really helped me and my speed journey.

Really good video. I would love to see Steve suggest a drill for how to time squashing the pads (or half tennis balls)!

Being over 60 would this still be worth doing?

I didn't see a list of the speed training items below. Can you provide a link to these?

Does this concept apply to iron play as well? I recognize that speed is a general concept so is increasing speed good for all clubs?

I agree you need speed training to go from say 120 to 130 but the reality is that the average male swings at about 90- 95. Some of this is technique but most of it is genetic. I have seen many people new to golf with crazy natural speed. I’ve seen golfers hit the ball 250 easily either sitting in a chair or standing with their feet together. No ground forces there. The point is most people are never going to throw a baseball 95 mph and the sooner they get over that and quit chasing YouTube videos on speed the better off they will be. Learn to hit the center of the club face and then work on your short game and you will be shooting in the high 70s!

I recently got fitted for new clubs. I had no idea just how fast my swing was and how wrong the shafts i was using and the balls that I was playing with were. It's not a linear change but I went from putting my 7 iron 180 at the max to easily hitting 220.
