An intimidating player in past years, but has not been at her best for some time now, primarily because her putting is awful. Had a good career though, all the best in retirement Lexi.
I think the decline in form coincides with the infamous chipping yips when coasting to a major championship. Anyone who plays golf knows what that can do to your mentality on the course, it affects everything, driving for fairways, 2nd shots to greens, where you know you have to hit it to avoid a dreaded chip. And all of this in front of fans and the TV, brutal, just so exposed. Best of luck in the future.
We shall miss you , but good luck to you in the future.
About time!
Maybe she's pregnant
I was at the US Jr. Open Lexi won at Bedminster because my wife’s cousin also was competing in it, missing the cut by one stroke 😢 She was amazing then.
Way too young to walk away from Golf but if she’s emotionally not driven to “be the best” then she needs to pursue what brings her happiness. Just imagine, Loren Ochoa walked away as #1 in the world in women’s golf. I hope to see Lexi back on tour in the future, I wish her all the success & happiness.
Wow!…..retiring at 29 with millions of dollars! NICE! 😃
Will she still play in the majors?
Good for you Lexi, you are allowed to stop working and enjoy life, It’s called retirement you need to look after yourself just like every one else. Only you know when it’s enough and I’m sure Lexi is proud of her career, she can now sleep in and do what ever she wants!
She should have gone to college where she and her game could mature before entering the pressure cooker of the LPGA. She burned out early without realizing her full potential, just like Michelle W.
Always rooted for Lexi. Thought she got robbed of a Major via BS move by LPGA.
She ruined her own career. A few years ago she hired a sports psychologist in an effort to learn to have more fun at gold. She basically lost her fire. You can have all the talent in the world but you have to have that "fire" and competitive nature. I just think she couldn't handle it.
She is a divot machine who hops at the end of her swing. And she never saw a putt she liked. Good riddance.
LPGA will miss Lexi especially American golf fans. These days LPGA is dominated by players from other countries…..its ruining womens golf
She seems too young to retire….must be an emotional decision and not because of physical issues….she also has not been playing well too.
I think that with Lexi’s announcement, and with the recent tragedy involving Grayson Murray, it just reminds us that fame and fortune can’t guarantee happiness and fulfillment in this life. There is hardship and dysfunction involved in just about every walk of life. And when it becomes too much of a physical and emotional burden, it’s time to make a change, and it appears that Lexi has recognized that and is moving forward with making that needed change. I hope that she does have the adequate support structure in place to help her transition. I’m sure in whatever she decides to do, we haven’t heard the last of Lexi Thompson. I’ll miss her in the LPGA, but I wish her all the best in her new endeavors.
Our son wants to make money playing golf, talk about a hard way to make a living. First, only around 200 per year make a living, second: it is all on your shoulders and what you did last week doesn’t matter at the tournament your at and then third out of a couple hundred only one wins per tournament. Pro baseball, basketball or football, you have a 50 percent chance of winning each game. You really have to handle loosing and keep going and that takes tons of courage
I loved watching you play. I pray to our Heavenly Father that you are blessed and have joy in the remainder of your lifetime. Draw close to Christ and he will draw close to you. You deserve to slow things down and let your mind focus on the Truth of life. Praying for you!
3yrf😊😊
A brave and beautiful woman, inside and out.
Firstly, she’s a net worth of $7M minimum so don’t feel too sorry for her.
Secondly, as a former PGA golf professional I find this both laughable & sorta insulting.
Your fantastic Lexi. sad to see you go but your health is yours.
Yawn
Your aloud to cry Lexi it's OK not to feel OK 😢
You’re an amazingly strong woman Lexi. You have lots of life in front of you and you will live it well. Aloha.

You need your privacy.
Just unfollowed you✌️
Lexi is a class act! She always has and she will always be for me.
Sad, she's only 29, but you could see it wasn't working. maybe she should take a year out to rest regroup recover passion for the game.
The nicest legs on tour
Man, I love this young lady. Forget the golf. Know it don't matter, but she's always got a friend in me.
Lexi was such a deva snowflake that whined about everything. Goodby Felicia.
Love 💕 you Lexi. You have been a credit to the sport. Best wishes to your future and much happiness. 😊
Lexi said that she is retiring from a “full-time” schedule. Does this mean that she will still be playing an abbreviated schedule?
Lexi should do instructional swing videos on YouTube or on Golf Channel in the future!
Really? What "you" go through? Try working 5 days a week doing construction work in the hot Arizona sun, laying pavement on a highway for a career until you can retire at 62 1/2 when you get social security. Tough life getting a BMW rental car and staying in a 5 Star resorts and walking a golf course while someone carries your bags. Playing golf is so hard compared to serving in the military or working in the oil felids or being a cop or teacher who bring home enough money to hover above the poverty line. These people live in an alternative universe, no comprehension of how blessed they are.
American girls are soft! Look at the leaderboards every week and you will be shocked to see one American flag next to anyones name on the leaderboards and no one softer than Lexi. There are no more Dottie Peppers or Morgan Pressels.
I bet she come back in a few years. Anyone else feel that way?
Given she hasn't won in over 5 years and almost lost her card in 2023 and missed 5 cuts in her first 7 events of 2024 retiring seems like a very rational decision. Although given her focus on branding, promotion and marketing gimmicks I have no doubt her sports management group and business manager will milk this for all its worth. Prepare for comeback rumors and perhaps even a revisionist promotional documentary, similar to Michelle Wie's, that presents her failures on tour as a result of being a victim of any number of things. What is clear for both Lexi Thompson and Michelle Wie is that they were poorly advised and should have played longer in the amateur ranks and perhaps even collegiate golf in order to become mentally tough and emotionally strong enough to progress beyond their natural talent. Highlighted by her blowing a 5 stroke lead in the US Open, Lexi has shown an inability to perform on the weekend and as a result become a mediocre, middle of the pack player. Really not surprising she would react emotionally to her performance over the past 5 years.
What a shame she never got to tranfer her weight.
