The PGA TOUR heads back to Houston this week for the Texas Children’s Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course where Tony Finau returns to defend his title. The American has been inconsistent in 2024 but he’s still recorded a T6 among three top-20s in his last six starts. He also holds a course-record-tying 62 from the second round in 2022. FedExCup and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler returns to action after his dramatic win at THE PLAYERS Championship two weeks ago. Scheffler has won two events in a row this season on the PGA TOUR (Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard prior to his triumph at TPC Sawgrass) and has not finished outside the top 20 in any event this season. He’s looking to become the first golfer to win three-straight events on the PGA TOUR since 2017. Wyndham Clark will also be teeing it up in Texas. The only golfer who has beaten him in his last two starts is the current World No. 1. Clark also won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am earlier in 2024 and claimed 16th at Memorial Park in 2022. Others to look out for are Jason Day, Will Zalatoris and Valspar Championship winner Peter Malnati.

Is it just me or is the broadcast of these tournaments in 2024 really bad, starting at 4pm, the pre-broadcast show is just not interesting. And don't get me started on the commercials…
Round 1 is as much about keeping score as its about enjoying the scenery and nice course.
Most of these have great swings but for the life of me, I haven’t heard of 90% of them.
