This series was awesome to watch. Including both the ups and downs. It was really good seeing you reflect on your experience at qualifying. I know I definitely relate. Thank you for being you, your content and personality are one of a kind and we all support you.

HA, Love the dramatic buildup to that first tee shot! 😀

Wow, this really encapsulates the game of golf. The video was incredibly well done! Look at all the sweet touchy chip shots you executed along the way. Your mental fortitude was impressive, the way you were able to work towards a positive mental space for the final holes. That can be harder than executing golf shots. Would love to see you attempt this again, after having had this experience.

I'm a random viewer who has watched various videos of yours down the years, but I was concerned with this. Have you consulted a sports psychologist after this experience? If not, can I suggest you do as, if not, when you stand on that 1st tee in Open Qualifying next year, all of "this" will come back to you.

So, please consult someone in "the trade" in order to rationalise, and park, this experience.

Remember, you are an exceptional golfer, despite this experience. You had one bad round, unfortunately, in Open qualifying, but that should never, ever, define you as a golfer. So, please, go and get some advice, and return to Open Qualifying next year, and show the world how good you really are!!!

That was a bit of a hard watch, seriously gutted for you Peter, I knew what had happened before I've watched it, I just wanted to see how you coped with that day and score. You we're obviously very disappointed in yourself. I'm still extremely happy for you to go again all the hard work you put in looked like it would lead to a successful day obviously not to be. But don't let that one day stop you trying again.

I get way more out of watching you handle adversity….i know you don’t like it, I don’t either, but this is what amateurs need to see how good amateur players handle difficult days.

The greens looked rock-hard. The fact that you can play through a bad round like you did has inspired me. Next time will probably be completely different, we all know that golf is just like that, so keep it going.

Well done Peter, maybe next year.
If you see the hcp of the amateurs on the open they are -6. This is almost pro level.
Don't know what yours is at the moment but -6 is insane. 🤯
Even if you are 0 or -1, going to -6 is a looooong way.

Definitely keep the quest for the open series going next year, the warm up comps are brilliant to watch, next year you could introduce a sports psychologist into the process?
You played really good golf in the lead up, that qualifying round could have gone very differently and didn’t reflect your overall golf. Try and enjoy it for what it is, an extremely difficult feat even if you play your best on the day. The content is easily the best golfing series on YouTube

I know this video has been out for a while now. I really respect you putting this video out and really showing the ups and downs that come with this silly game we all love. It takes A LOT of courage to walk us through something like this and I thank you for it. PLEASE KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING THE WAY YOU ARE DOING IT. You have a huge fan and supporter in TEXAS.

I think you should change the title of this video to 'I took on Open Qualifying…it didn't work out'. I think you became too results focussed and forgot about your skillset. It certainly was not a disaster. Stay out of your head when things aren't going to plan, those inner voices are not proper golfers! A solid caddie is defs your 15th club, but you need to trust them which can be a hard thing to do. I would suggest a YouTuber called Reev. He's practically a qualified caddie. At the very least keep swinging. We'll keep watching.

Pete, you sharing the emotions you’re going through your head as you hit a driver OB, really resonates with the average golfer. Thanks for sharing your thoughts as you played this qualifying. You make for a very relatable person and this keeps us coming back for more. Cheers.

Pressure will defeat just about anyone, only a few can channel it into anger and use it to win. We know people like that, Jokovich and Ronaldo, they win but are usually alone in their victory

I know I’m about six months late to this series, but have been going back and watching it all through and it’s honestly super inspiring. I can only imagine how tough of a loss this is for you but I’ve learned so much watching you specifically Pete out of all the YouTube golfers. Keep the series going, it’s my favorite one you do. I hope I can take the things I’ve learned watching you and can continue to improve my own game. Cheers Pete on a hard fought season.

    Don’t complain
    About anything
    Not even to yourself.

Ultimately, our mind has the potential to be as big as the universe. The more open our mind, the bigger it is. The more consumed by worry and petty concerns, the smaller it is.

While playing well in a tournament, we might think to ourselves, “Well, you’ve gotten away with it so far, but you’ll screw up before too long.” Believing in this thought gives it power. It creates feelings of doubt and anxiety, which interfere with our swing and produce errant shots. That makes us believe the thought even more, amplifying it in our mind.

Hi Pete, we've all struggled on a golf course pal, but watching you being "sad" on a golf course was a seriously hard watch! Please please keep this quest alive, the content is fantastic!! Going forward, I would love to help you, caddy and keep on course mood a lot more fun and positive. I have caddied for some pro friends before, in their pro quests, and feel I could be of benefit. I started playing on Wythenshawe Park pitch and putt, it was magical. Just remember, and try to keep the fun element of our wonderful sport. ⛳️

It was a bad day, but you are a good golfer. Recently I read The Bogey Man by George Plimpton, a book about him playing in USA pro-ams. When I play badly I read this again about his play in the Bob Hope pro-am to cheer me up "13th hole: Drive off heel of club into Bob Hope cart … quickly played second shot with three wood, and again off heel of club. Moaned. No reaction from crowd. Ball bounced across 14th fairway into parking lot. Disappeared from view. Called out loudly after caddy who was hurrying after shot "Lay it leave!" Meant to say "Leave it lay," or better "Don't bother about it, I'm picking up." But in confusion words came out, "Lay it leave." Heard Diller whisper "Lay it leave?" Hope said "Who is that guy" Hurried off. 14th hole: Still shaken. Tee shot hopped off heel of club – went no more than 30 yards. Feel like throwing in towel. Sloughed gloomily through grass towards ball. Good eight iron over tree back into fairway. Fine brassie to green, but it's all too late. Team bogeyed hole. No one looks at me, not even caddy. Approaches sidelong, like a crab, to hand me next club. 15th hole: a short little par 3. Shanked three shots in a row! Utterly lost. Caddy offers condolences. "It'll come" he says, referring to the return of my skills. His conviction is not particularly strong. The strange cry "Lay it leave" haunts me. What must they have thought? 16th hole: Hit tree! Let out strange cry. Ball playable. Hit a fine recovery, then a good approach, but the team did not need my putt. About an 88-footer anyway. 17th hole: Sliced drive under tree. Hunched over ball like a mushroom collector and punched out a three iron, Lobbed seven iron into clump of trees. Popped ball into trap next to green, Blasted out of trap and damned if my ball didn't hit the pro's ball lyng on the green. Apologied and picked up. Doctor annoyed. 18th hole: Large rockslide on right. Drove into rocks. Fortuitously, ball ricocheted out. Not a bad lie. Good piece of work. Handed brassie. Gave up. Long walk to green. Spectator. Watched everyone hole out.

It just goes to show how you can spend hours and days weeks years of your life trying to play the game well, the money and travel and some Joe Blow guy could blow the doors off and win.I think you either got it or you don't . I'm curious if you were ever a Junior Golfer? They are the ones who are gifted because they've done it all their lives. Look at Rory or Scotty. Even Grant H.
