The commentator who described Lydia as going from golfing prodigy to legend to immortal was aptly describing a kid who first made headlines here in New Zealand and has achieved many milestones in a storied unfinished career. Not only one of golf's ambassadors, but an Asian Kiwi woman who has inspired and represented New Zealand proudly and with grace and openness. Her firsts are too many to recount here.
In fact, Lydia is Dame of the Order of New Zealand, the female equivalent of a knighthood or Sir, but such is her humility, she doesn't require others to address her as Dame Lydia despite her right to fo so. We in New Zealand are proud of her sporting success and how she has grown up despite the pressures on her to be the wonderful person that clearly comes across in this interview.

The skills of these ladies are on Par with the men! Golf is the only sport where the difference between male competitors and female competitors is slim. In any other sport, the men are far more advanced; it's not close. Really, only total yardage is what is different. Which comes down to hitting Driver. There are so many great female golfers, and Lydia is at the top of the field.

Lydia Ko is one of the greatest New Zealand sportspeople, and her family must take a lot of credit for raising someone so humble and so well spoken, an absolute credit to her country. She has a generous spirit and it was nice to hear her mention High Performance New Zealand.
