Video Description

Struggling with inconsistent contact? Topping the ball? Lacking distance or control? This is exactly what happened with my student Dave, 12 handicap. In this video, I’ll share one simple but powerful tip that will instantly improve how you strike the golf ball, more solid, more consistent, and with way better results, this is what worked with Dave. This is with ALL clubs, yes there is one simple tip that can solve the issues you are having with all clubs. Whether you need to strike your irons pure, hit your irons longer, hit your driver longer, hit your driver straighter, hit your driver further, get ball then turf, compress your irons.

Great tip mate. That’s a mistake I make. Wrong ball position! How have you been? Long time no chat. Have our vids been out yet or were they too bad! Ha ha

You used 4 balls in the video but the cover page shows 5 balls… (D/3W, H/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/Ws) I like the 5 balls, so I put it here for your viewers… GREAT TIP!

Lost my driver swing, so I've made it simpler, I've given up golf 😂

Don't watch instructional videos. One day they tell you to tee it high. The other day low. One day play it up in your stance. One day back. You're making your viewers confused.

This concept is at least 60 years old and was developed by Gary Player from his time with Ben Hogan and others. Explained in his book "Play Golf With Player" 1962.
After trying this method for 50 ears on and off I came to the conclusion there is a lot more wrong than just this with an amateur's swing.

This was one of our topics on my visit to see you at Mottram Hall. Simple, straight forward advice that works. I was compressing the ball way better with my irons thanks to this tip. Crisp wedge pitches too 👏.

Apart from driver I don't have problem with ball position as I used one length irons so my ballposition is the same from 5 iron to gap wedge…

I’ve already adopted this for driver. Far more consistent, far straighter and it definitely works. Knocked at least 4 shots off my handicap too. I haven’t seen that sort of improvement for years.

I say swing club repeatedly see where it's striking the ground and that's where you play the ball

Thumbnail shows 5 balls and massively out compared to the 4 balls in the video.

What I remember you teaching is for a slicer, to have the ball one club head inside the left heel. Have you changed your mind on that? Good lesson though.

Wow, this is actually a great tip for the range! I can't wait to try it – especially with that nub of a hole for the mats.
    Thx Alex!

each to their own, my big thing is process process process …boring all the way , ball position is a key to many things… and i guess we all favour diff positions on the clock…i would struggle with that set up.. BUT that is golf… we all have a diff way of doing the same thing

I have put different coloured insulation tape, each the width of a golf ball, on an alignment stick to cover 3 ball positions similar to you: Driver, then wood, hybrid, 4 -7 iron, the 3rd is for the remainder. The 8 iron alternates between position 2 and 3 depending on how I am playing. i find 3 positions easier to manage but have now added a 4th – just in case. Great video Alex.

Coach can you help me about ball position with one length clubs?

Perfect alex for the golfer looking for a bit of simplicity and this will definitely help them. Your vids are great and precise and yes, they are for a certain person, at a certain point of their golf game and not all at the same time. People will look for what they are looking for and find it. They all have their purpose, so dont worry bout the haters and keep pumping them out. They will find their mark, and this is from a low single digit marker that you have helped.

Position the ball clear your head and swing too much thinking about wind, sand traps and any other obstacles doesn’t work for us amateurs, just have fun and remember a bad day of golf is better than working.

Alex, I'm hitting most of my irons, and even my driver pretty straight. My 5 wood and 4 hybrid I have the tendency to hook, and sometimes severely, taking me into the heavy, left rough, or even into the woods. One instructor told me to check my ball position (which I THINK I keep around the 4-iron position), and think about moving it slightly back in my stance a bit to minimize that hook. Does that sound correct?

Love this system! I'm caught thinking of other things in my swing so this would make it way more reliable. Don't suppose you can help me with some feels in the swing for a lefty who's right side dominant?

Or just play single length irons and use the same setup with all. Love mine.

Im having a hard time understanding where the pw/9 ball is in relation to the middle of your stance

I need you to explain why the bottom of the arc moves forward as the club shaft gets longer. Although, you never actually said that's what happens–you only show the arc in one place.

Hi Alex a great video I wounder if would you change ball position for our bone dry UK fairways at the moment ?

    Reply
  25. @danielgreene6480

If you change your width and your open or closed stance doest that change the ball position? If you change just the ball position, it would reason that your width and stance be consistent.

  26. @rickmaj9582

what about if i use the same shaft lengths on my irons? same principle?

    Reply
  27. @TigerMarine62

The bottom of the swing arc doesn't change so why would you move the ball forward for longer irons?
