Needed more LIV players.
Euros had 2
They've already tried to adopt the template, it did win them two home Cups handily. Yet somehow since Whistling Straits, they've reverted back to old habits – picking captains and support staff at random, basing pairings on world rankings and trophies won, even if a star player is continually underperforming on the week. Everything the USA needs is there but they don't fit all the pieces together properly on a regular basis.
Ryder cup needs its own governing body, the pga has messed it up for too long and clearly only cares about the money. The ryder cup should be open to the BEST American golfers, not just the pga. Picking random captains and staff makes ZERO sense and just shows the pga doesnt take it seriously.
America has more talent but it doesnt have a home field advantage because basically all the Europeans live and play in America and they have American fans. America also has more players to choose from so they have new guys on the team that haven't worked together.
The Americans should keep doing what they are doing as it’s hugely unsuccessful and suits us just fine
Maga And trump Was the problem. Barbarians on court. Stop bullshit
To be fair no one really knows if Tiger would have a plan or not. You see in TM videos that he's more about being a teacher of the game now so we really have no clue how good Tiger could be as a captain.
Rolex sponsored uninterrupted coverage ⛳️ hours were the true winner. Thanks ⌚️ 🤝
Golf in its current interruption is unwatchable.
Hire azinger as permanent coach
Most of the bad stuff falls on pga America. Why weren’t they grilled in press. Why didn’t they manage crowds better. Why didn’t they put out statements on vile behaviour. What are they doing to get stronger foundations and consistency. PGA America needs to be held to fire.
Keegan Bradley should have played as hard as it is to play and be captain. Bryson Dechambeau should be a Ryder Cup captain.
From a leadership perspective, what you tolerate, you condone. If the PGA tolerates it, then it is condoned. Admonish the patrons that the tournament does not allow foul language and yelling in the backswing, not tolerated.
Thanks for not putting Bramble Chumblee on.
Good grief….this has been suggested for years. Let’s move onto next topic Golf Channel.
What is he talking about with regards to Valhalla last year?
And next time the Ryder cup is in the US they would be smart to play singles on Friday and then four ball in the next two mornings. They would win easily. They always crush Europe in singles because they are better individually but not as good as a duo because they only care about their own brand
There should be consequences at the USPGA, for the tone it was promoted, the set up of the course, the lack of preparation and the way it was all amped up dyring the tournament. They are now trying to downplay how systemic this was flawed, how widespread the crowd issues were, and how much of an embarrassment this was for US Golf!
Bryson DaShambles ruined the vibe.
Who cares, they got beat, maybe they should tell the ticket buyers they don't have to be massive douchebags.
At around 1 minute..
"If Shane Lowry misses that putt"
Well, guess what…what if JT misses his putt? Duh it is golf ..
You sound like NPR..
Play better alternate shot
We need a detailed explanation of exactly why Keegan Bradley set up the course the way he did. Without this explanation, it must be regarded as one of the most boneheaded decisions in the history of professional sports.
The quality of an entity is determined by the quality of its people. The PGA is, therefore, run by low quality people.
Well woken Rich Lerner, never seen him before but he intelligently dissected the differences between European team v US team and why Europe won.
The crowd showed the reason why the USA will always struggle winning as a team. They are horrible people with little humanity.
Americans are too focused on the storyline before playing: captain and matches. While Europeans are focused the what is required to win – and the story will write itself.
Typical take on it….”if Shane would’nt have made his putt”….there is a lot of would have, could have, should have. To be serious there were many things that could have happened for the Europeans as well and they would have been in a bigger lead….the Americans played very well on Sunday no doubt about that, but the Europeans won and it was not down to a specific put late Friday……own it!
Thanks to the great Tom Watson for holding the values of the game…lets lose the silly music, terrible starters, and ‘mashed potato’ brigade and get back to the respect and tradition the sport was laid down upon with our legends
I stopped watching because of the moronic crowd behaviour. It is supposed to be a friendly rivalry and this is a poor reflection of the USA, a place I have visited and felt very welcome over the years. I feel it should be cancelled now unless the crowds can show some decorum.
15 – 12, not 13.
If Shane Lowry doesnt make that putt……..I mean under pressure it was a class putt, but JT, Cam they both drained longer putts, everything went the US way all the close matches, it was a perfect storm never to be repeated. Only 1 match out of the 11 didnt make it up 17. It was a freak day, including Viktor not being able to play giving a woeful Harris English half. 15 13 was so flattering, it was a comfortable victory, face facts.
being higher on average in wold ranking at strokesplay does not in any way mean you are better in matchplay. that is being forgotten also and one of the reasons europe is so dominant in the ryder cup. but great explanation
The US organization gets ripped almost every two years. Is there anybody at the PGA of America who's competent?
USA just don’t care about the Ryder Cup as much as Europe . Woods, Nicklaus are not that bothered. Tiger and Jack would not trade 1 of their majors for another Ryder Cup win. The Americans win the majority of the majors and Europe win the majority of the Ryder Cups. It’s just fact.
Geeezzzz… In sports , in case you haven't noticed. There are winners and losers. There are options on how to do that. In any sport. Great Comebacks, upsets and Ho Hum . Looks like this will be looked at ad nauseum for 2 years. Imagine that. It's what yall do. My take, The asinine thought that Europe wants it more. Ohio State beat Notre Dame last year. WHY? Because they want it more.? Keegan did just fine. His team that he put out there on Friday and Saturday got steamed rolled. We got beat. Tip your hat see ya in 2 years.
In case you need to know how big the Ryder Cup is: Scottie Scheffler won 2 Majors on top of all his wins this year. But somehow its still Rorys year, with the Masters, the Players and the Ryder Cup.
Europeans are just better.
Winners dig down deep and find a way to win.
They wanted it more.
People keep talking about the award of a half as 'an act of sportsmanship'. I disagree.
Sportsmanship is something that comes from doing something outside of and beyond the expected rules of the game.
It wasn't an act of sportsmanship to withdraw before the match to secure a half point – all they were doing was adhering to the rules which in the circumstances were to Europe's advantage.
For me the the act of sportsmanship would have been for Hovland to have hit his tee shot, allowed English to hit his and then immediately withdraw due to injury. Europe should have then conceded the full point to the USA irrespective of whether or not the rules say so or not.
I suspect he would have been a shoe in for the Nicklaus-Jacklin award for sportsmanship if he had done that. If you can concede a putt then you should be able to concede a match.
Imagine if that half point had ultimately been the deciding half point that secured the Ryder Cup. Who would have been happy with that?
Can we all now say perhaps Bethpage was not a good Ryder cup set up? On the crowd. I was not there so I'm going on hearsay… This is not the Eagles Giants football game in Philly (Not soccer football) Throwing beers is not allowed. Hurling F you should have you removed…YES, give me an Augusta Roar… But show respect….Be loud all you want but when they tee up Quiet as church mouse.
Sure, we can look at Europe and gain insight but in the end it's got to be pure American vibe. The opening ceremony was flat. The MC ;s were flat and not very good…The Clips of them were Flat…The Music…??? Flat… Like Rich said this is not a Rock Concert… Don't need a comedian on the first Tee…. We need putts made on the first day… AGAIN Keegan did just fine, I would give him another chance if he wants it but his nota motivational speaker…It was great Team that came up short only because they got rolled on Friday and Saturday. Slow your jets down Merica will be just fine… In 2029 It's in Hazeltine… That's Like Canada and we know they are polite.
If If's and Butt's were nut's and candy wouldn't this be a Merry Christmas.
Had the exact same feeling during Luke's speech in Rome, I KNEW America had lost the cup right there.
He was charming, calm, understated, respectful, professional and spoke with confidence. That's the confidence you get from having seriously prepared for something, not the chest thumping bravado the USA relies on. Look at Luke's approach and then look at the way his team has played in the last two events, especially guys like Fleetwood, Straka, Hovland, the Twins, Fitz & Åberg.
Calm, understated, respectful, professional, and played with confidence. Two old sayings to round off the point…
"You don't play golf to relax, you relax to play golf."
"Fail to prepare, then prepare to fail."
“When he was 19 years old, he was a 5 handicapper, playing gaelic football”. I have for many years believed, the reason Team Europe are the better team, is exactly because we grow up from a young age playing team sports in clubs, where the social aspect is imprinted in us. Note, that every European has a favorite football team (soccer to you Americans) they support passionately.
Let’s call a spade a spade , Bradley set the course up like a pitch and putt course . This is Bethpage Black after all.
Really not that deep America, the excuses are phenomenal, make out the European team slept with each other. 😂 they just played better that all your American players played really good, stop over thinking. Only thing I saw was your fans just rubbed them up the wrong way. And europeans just had that more fight in them. Nearly worked on the last day tho cuz Rory rham and fleet wood looked drained.
