In this tip, I’m explaining that you don’t want to hit down to take a divot. I know you see a divot taken ahead of the ball. This is not why it is taken though.

A divot is take because you have the right swing fundamentals not because you are trying to take a divot.

To prove this, I show you an example of me tilting my body backwards yet I take the divot ahead of the ball. Once you see and understand why a divot is take you need to immediate stop trying to hit down on the ball and start working on the proper golf swing fundamentals that will allow you to take divots without even thinking about it.

Marvelous tip, Paul, and well explained, too! I've been following you for many years now and still working on "effortless power" after spending about 60 years whacking with my hands and arms. The journey is fun (I'm 86 now and hope to have a few more years to try to improve), thanks to your teaching!

Looking forward to your vids in the coming year. I’m convinced this is the way to go. I’m a senior trying to fully convert. I’ve always been an arm hitter.

Paul, I enjoy your instructional videos for a number of reasons not the least of which is your vast experience. I, like you, have been coaching for over 3 decades. It’s women’s softball for me, golf for you. The way you deliver your content bleeds experience and maturity. As you deliver your message I can tell that you are drawing on your experience when you say things like “I tell them not to do that, that will never work…you will end up doing this instead”. Unfortunately some of your viewers don’t appreciate that when you say such things it is because you have witnessed hundreds or thousands of people who have done whatever “that thing” is wrong and you can anticipate it because you have seen it a million times. I feel your pain brother and I DO appreciate it. I often watch your videos with my wife and I tell her “he’s trying to help people eliminate the frustrations he can already predict”. Anyway, keep up the great work brother. You are a gem of an instructor and an inspiration to those of us that suffer the same frustrations. All the best Paul!

I can’t figure out how you're able to keep your clubhead square when I watch you swing.

Tiger almost never takes a divot. Focus on hitting the ball.

Thank you. This is another perspective on your recent secondary axis tilt video. Completely hand in hand with that one. This seems to me to be a very important aspect of the correct swing. I do have a question if you can, please: Is it suitable to focus on this move while at the same time doing swings to hit 2/3 the normal distance? Could doing those things together help? Thanks in advance for any insights.
