If you’re struggling to get your swing on plane, the issue might not be your hands or arms—it could be that your backswing is too short. In this video, I’ll show you how making a bigger backswing with proper turn and width can actually help your club stay on plane, leading to more consistent ball striking and better swing mechanics.

We’ll cover:
✅ The benefits of a full turn for your backswing plane
✅ How to increase arm width and shoulder rotation
✅ Key checkpoints to keep your backswing on plane
✅ A simple drill to increase your range of motion without losing control

If you want a smoother, more powerful, and on-plane golf swing, this lesson will guide you step-by-step. Perfect for golfers looking to level up their backswing mechanics!

I think many people feel too far away from ball when more shoulder turn (just a scary feeling at first)…reason shoulder turn stops with arms still moving.

Interesting how it looks like you worked to get his hands/the club deeper behind his head in the backswing through shoulder turn vs raise arms (is this what you mean by by the escalator vs elevator?….and how does compare when you’ve put people next to a wall to not allow club to go too far back?)…..and then with this position easier to stay on plane during down swing. Thanks for more excellent instruction…………everyone, worth subscribing to their channel!

I got the driver tips a few years ago & my swing got really short. I’ve been trying to get more length ever since. This has been helpful to see.

This is a constant thing I'm working on along with right arm structure…..tend to overswing and do it too fast. These drills really have helped me come closer to the right cadence and position.

I’d like to know how much on the takeaway is forced vs letting the arms go to the top. How much pressure is needed? All these positions make it look like I’m supposed to manually put them there but don’t know if it’s just a result of the arms going back with the turn naturally.

In many of your videos you say "up the escalator". Any chance you could make a video or comment explaining this feel? Love the content Adam.

Watching this video helps me identify how fast my transition is on the way down. I need to slow it down on the back swing, pause and come back down in plane. Thanks for helping me point this out Mr. Porzak. Awesome video BTW, Thank You.
