Why Jordan Speith or some of the other players are even in discussion who knows, they haven't played well in years

It was a scam. Keegan said up until just a few days ago that he was considering himself and that it was the hardest decision of his life. Today he says that he hadn't considered playing in quite a while. Such a horrible way to waste a lie in one's life, milking the story for ratings instead of being honest. Collin Morikawa should have never been picked. He has played very poorly, so that is another lie Keegan stated. Burns and Cantlay did not earn inclusion on the team. You needed to have McNealy and also have Keegan pick himself. Then add JT, Ben Griffin, and Cameron Young. Still need one more so maybe Cantlay or Burns, but I would have gone with Gotterup and really shaken things up.

Keegan blew a once in a lifetime opportunity, and once in a lifetime story to be the playing captain. But he couldn't take the heat. He took the easy way out and picked the people whom he didn't want to call and say sorry to. The easiest loser calls to make of all-time were Maverick McNealy and Harman and Novak. Harman had no shot, and McNealy is a classy guy. Novak played his way out of it. Who else to call, Gotterup, maybe? Keegan didn't have the guts to call Collin or even Cantlay or Burns and tell them no. Lowlife stuff, especially the great big lie where all the fans were rooting for Keegan do really do well this past week so he would pick himself. Keegan said the team has been pretty much set for a while. Lol. Get lost. I will be rooting for the Euros and Tommy Fleetwood will get more cheers from the American fans that Cantlay or Morikawa will. Nobody cares about Sam Burns, either.

The Ryder Cup is not the pinnacle of pressure in professional golf. Having a legit chance to win a major late on Sunday is the pinnacle of pressure in professional golf. If the Ryder Cup went away tomorrow, nobody would really care. The players would certainly get over it quickly, and the fans would forget all about the overhyped exhibition and ridiculous two year captain nonsense very quickly. I mean, I could hire a ten-year old child two weeks out from the Ryder Cup and he or "she" would not be guaranteed to be a losing Ryder Cup captain, and that proves that the whole thing is fraudulent.

Keegan never said there was a time when he was going to play. He said that after the Travelers he started really thinking about it.

Keegan never said there was a time when he was going to play. He said after the Travelers about the possibility. Lav is correct. There should be a 30-30 about his gutless picks and his lies right until the very end. All a lie to drum up fake interest.

Keegan will get the worst case scenario here. He will be a losing Ryder Cup captain and his legacy will have one less Ryder Cup as a player than he should have had. Dumb stuff from Keegan Bradley. You cannot ever pick Collin Morikawa.

One thing that you can wager your whole life on. The LIV players like Koepka, DJ, Patrick Reed, and Phil will be rooting so hard for the Euros that you won't believe it. That is the lock of your life. Don't even try to argue the other side.

Why let the captain have any picks at all. Just pick the top 12 US players in the data golf rankings. You would have ended up with basically the same team, Scheffler, Henley , Dechambeau, Griffin, Schauffele, Burns, Thomas, Cantlay, Young, Bradley, Spaun and English. If you didn't want Keegan to be a playing Captain the next in line would be Mcnealy.

After he said "I made the decision not to play a while ago" (he said team was set 48 hours ago, but him not playing was decided a while ago), I didn't hear anyone ask what I think would be an interesting question: "Why did you decide to hold out announcing this earlier?" Whether it was intentional or not, I think it played out to advantage of the team so most of the pressure and attention on him and not on the team over the summer.

Lav, Keegan would not have been taking an unnecessary risk. This is a scam event that regular people, even golf fans, hardly care about, and wouldn't care about it if it wasn't constantly hyped. The interest is not organic, and the idea that they announce a captain so far out is a joke. They could announce a captain a month out and it would go just freaking fine. The idea that Keegan lied all the way through about how tortured his decision was, only to in the end say that he really hadn't considered himself in "a while" is pretty horrific. He was scamming the public, drumming up interest. If he was going to go that route, then he committed fraud by not picking himself. Lots of more interest….tons more interest, and you are competing with the NFL remember.

He couldn't handle the heat. He blew a massive one-off opportunity to go out there and stand up and win the thing as a playing captain, be a hero forever, and have a great legacy. Now he has a worse kind of pressure. Now he has no excuse. The Euros will crush them. He played it the most gutless and dishonest way that any person could ever play it. They are all multi-millionaires…..10 plus million net worth easy for all of the picks. Pick yourself and go in front of the home crowd and have fun for Christ's sake. This isn't life or death. In fact, it is a joke. No real consequence if you lose. I mean, who the Hell cares in the long run? Tiger and Phil certainly aren't lying awake at night due to their horrific Ryder Cup records. It would have been a great story. I am rooting for a massive U.S. defeat, with Morikawa, JT, Burns and Cantlay getting zero points each. Will be rooting for Cam Young and Ben Griffin. What is funny is that I almost forget about the automatic picks….they are also playing. Haha.

If the US does well in this Ryder Cup and the team is seen to click particularly well, would the PGA ask Bradely to do a Luke Donald and be captain again in Ireland in 2025?

I had hesitation about Cantlay, then remembered the shot of him cupping his ear at the crowd in Rome after he had made a big putt. As unemotional as he may appear, he seems to bring some attitude to the matches, and a team can always use that.

I disagree completely with the Ben Giriffin feeling the most pressure. Not only did his consistant play show especially after his win but at thr Majors. He has been through so so much adversity outside of the ropes that his headspace must be so confident and strong and finally His comments when being introduced. Thats a Man thats ready and has the confidence to not only shows he’s ready to win but thrive in doing so. My pressure Player should be Collin or Burns

Can anybody imagine Brycin and Scheffler teaming up against say Rory and Bobby Mac?? That would be insane!

You two are afraid to say anything negative about the players. You guys want access and it shows. BTW-this was all Keegan's fault. He was a sympathy pick to be the captain of a very prestigious team. He accepted that job when he didn't need to. He could have tried to play his way on the team if that's what he really wanted (he would have made the team). After the Traveler's he should have dropped his captaincy and played his way on the team. He wanted the best of both worlds though, how neat I'll be the first captain/player since Arnold Palmer. I could go on. I also think the media goaded him into this mess. Should have never happened, he should have been content with the captains job. Greedy and selfish in my opinion.

Sad to not see maverick, Colin needs to get his sheeet together his game. It woulda been hard for Keegan looking forward to it! This will be a good one Love Keegan New Englander! Scottie got Sam burns some equity! Lfg USA. Keegan will play in presidents cup and he’ll be 41 for next one. It’s a 1-2k for a single day ticket they should 100 percent get paid now they can donate it but questioning where that money goes was not wrong.
