His misses are better than my best drives
🎉
Best advice I’ve had regarding drive set up. Since I’ve paid as much, if not more attention to my set up with the positioning of the ball inside of my lead foot has led to less effort and longer drive distance (because it’s straighter).
I'm a little baffled, the clickbait says you CAN NOT hit a ball straight with the popular position of inside the left heel, which is the foundation of modern golf instruction, (Golf My Way, by the GOAT Nicklaus.)?
Wow! Danke
thanks, Danny…superb explanation…can't wait to try it on the range…must confess, I'm still a little confused by the difference between the sternum and the left armpit…am I right in thinking the arc reaches its low point under the sternum?
would be great to also hear your thoughts on hitting 3W off the tee…same basic principle?…I guess all that changes is a lower tee-peg?
Excellent advice! I have had advice before about ball position which is key but never has anyone related it to 'finding your centre' too! It makes perfect sense and explains a lot of by drives! Has been driving me crazy because I have been convinced that ball position is correct but now you have very possibly given me the remedy! Can't wait to get the chance to try this out. Thanks!
Makes so much sense! Can't wait to try.
I have my ball position further back in my stance and it works for me, rather than back of the front heel.
How are you hitting 285 yards effortlessly? The furthest I’ve ever hit is 246 and that’s giving it full beans!
I set my driver up with the ball very close to the middle of my stance. Probably 60/40 favoring front of stance. Also, with the center of swing thing, steeper club delivery mitigates the angle of misses. Meaning if you're swiping across the ball, there's a larger chance you'll hit the ball across and get side spin.
Your lessons are so straight forward and nicely laid out Danny. If a golfer practices these they can only improve their game. Thank you.
This is the best advice I've heard. It has made me understand my slice differently. I have only had one lesson, and all I was told was that I wasn't rolling my wrists over the ball enough. Thanks for this!. I'm very keen to get back on the range and hopefully hit a driver straight.
I have been golfing for 60 years and have lined up the ball off my left heel ever since I started. 95% straight down the middle

All of my heel DRIVES go sky/hook. not slice. I hit over 100 balls in a row and ALL of them were off the same spot on the heel and ALL of them were draws/hooks/skied. ZERO SLICES. any thoughts?
You can't really talk about the result of path without considering where the face is in relation to that path.
If your someone who has a lot of lateral in the downswing, you might have success putting ball further forward?
Danny is my new not so secret weapon.
Very informative! Thank you! I’ll practice this.
One of the best teachers out there!
Danny I have learned so much from you and I am improving all the time. I’m 62 and don’t have great rhythm……yet. 😎 But what I haven’t seen much about is how far away from my stance is the ball. Can you address that, Thanks!
If i swing as fast as i possibly can i still can't beat Danny's baby swing 😮💨
Thank you for validating what ive been experimenting with. at the range, the mats have the tee right in the middle and it was hard for me to get a good drive. at the course i was putting the ball basically one ball outside of my left foot and it made a world of difference in terms of keeping it on the fairway.
Thank you Danny
Excellent coaching tip! TY
Hi Danny. Another great video! I find the easiest way to get this right is to tell yourself to hit the ball with your back to the target. That prevents unwanted forward or backward body movement. It also is much easier to transfer weight with your back to the target. Of course you have to keep just this one swing thought in mind and execute it at the top of your swing. This has worked well for me and always given me a good ball strike.
Thanks!
Danny, I can't Thank You enough for all Your lessons. I just started 6 weeks ago, and can drive a ball with consistent straight carry of 140-150 yards- And I'm a Lefty ! Best steak dinner on me if You come to Philadelphia! Thanks again🤣🤣
Outside of building a setup like yours, what is the best way for me to get those kind of metrics for my swing?
You're a great teacher. Thank you for these online lessons
So what happened to lag?
hook and slice and STILL driving over 250 yards!!
Off 8 Danny at the age of 72, my bad shot is the driver slicing, you have given me the check points I need to rectify that bad shot many thanks Danny.
My driving was always inconsistent. I have just left the driving range. The explanation you gave was just incredible. I am hitting longer and straighter than I've ever hit before. Thank you so so much!
Great explanation. Thanks Danny.
so clear
Good lesson as always. I wanted to know if you had any lesson I could watch for getting "ball compression"? Thanks.
THIS DUDE IS GOOD
Tack!
Tack!
Why are irons supposed to be further back then?
A simple setup and 100% ability to control straight, draws and fades – great job Danny
I've been massively balloon-slicing the drives with the ball positioned at the lead heel. Moving the ball six inches to the right (away from the heel) has helped but I don't know why. I'm a senior player (71 yrs old), don't know if that's relevant.
Thanks Danny! Back to basic, great reminder for my game
